Dan Parry is an author and documentary film researcher who has worked for the BBC and international television networks. Before that, in 1990, he was a jackeroo at Flora Valley Station, three years after the bodies of James Annetts and Simon Amos were found in the Great Sandy Desert.
(above) Away from the creek in flood, the land can be deadly for those not prepared. Caught in the open during summer without water for 24-hours can result in death for those not in the best of health. But the local bush black fellas can walk the same land as if touring a supermarket. (Photo: Dan Parry, 1990).

The Aboriginal activists call the white station owners, leaseholders, meaning their leases will eventually expire whereupon the indigenous people will reclaim the land. There is also division between the tribal bush people and mixed-raced Aboriginal bureaucrats. (Photo: Dan Parry, 1990).
